If I am being honest it’s been hard for me to make friends most of my adult life! I am uncovering many reasons why that is but that’s a story for another time.
Anyway I digress. In March of 2020 we moved to a new city and bam everything shuts down. Talk about the worst time to try to make new friends!
Since I never really had a community or a tribe, the isolation really didn’t effect me. I didn’t mind being forced to be home, it gave me permission not to be in awkward social situations where I didn’t know anyone. Can you relate?
But somewhere in the back of my mind I knew this probably wasn’t healthy. Thankfully, I made the decision to start my business in 2021, more for financial reasons then socializing. I quickly came to find that the social part was the greatest benefit of my business.
I knew in order to grow my business I had to meet new people and share my products and services. To say I was uncomfortable is an understatement. Thankfully with the business model I chose I wasn’t alone in my journey and one of the greatest support came from one of my sideline sisters (you know who you are HK, love you). She really helped me break out of my shell in the beginning!
I also joined several organizations to force myself to get out and meet people. That was scary for me. How about you? How do you feel about meeting new people?
I will have to say, making myself go to the various meetings and events that these different organizations had really allowed me to meet some amazing women who I now call my friends. And the more I did it the easier it became.
So truth be told, if I didn’t take the leap and start my business in 2021, I would most likely still be isolating, even when it is no longer required, and I would not have met so many amazing people!
This business is so much more then the products, it’s about the person you become because of it!! Best gift I have ever given myself!
