I laced up my sneakers and headed out the door for yet another run!
As I rounded the corner after about 1/2 mile in, a guy comes running out of his house with a pamphlet in his hand š¤
He handed me a flyer for a local race that was coming up and encouraged me to sign up!
Huh! I guess I am a runner after all š
That was the first of many races I have run over the past twenty years.
Can I just say, I am so glad I didnāt let my inner critic stop me from starting.
I remember when I first started running all the voices in my head telling me
āØI am too slow
āØI look stupid,
āØI am not a runner
āØIāll never be able to run far
Finally I realized I was doing what most wonāt or are too afraid to try! So I thought, maybe me running the streets of my neighborhood might inspire someone, who also had that inner critic, to lace up their sneakers and run š„°
The hardest part is always the first step š
Where in your life are you letting your inner critic keep you from taking that first step? Maybe my story will remind you that you are ready to lace up your sneakers and head out the door ā„ļø (if only metaphorically)
Your future self is waiting for you - will you take that step???
